There are 54,000 junior doctors working in the NHS. They form the backbone of the NHS – they are the majority of doctors you see in A&E, the surgeons who operate when you’re unwell, and the physicians you see for hospital appointments.

Junior doctors in England are currently in dispute with the UK Government, who plan to impose a new contract on them – a contract which junior doctors, and much of the public, believe is unsafe and unfair. The Government is refusing to negotiate and therefore junior doctors are being forced into industrial action. They are urging the Government to reconsider, to stop the imposition of this contract, and return to the negotiating table.
